The MAV Cluster participates in the European MAT4EU project to promote innovation in advanced materials

Clúster Mav,

The MAV Cluster participates as a partner in the European project MAT4EU – Advanced Materials for a Sustainable European Future, one of the sixteen new Euroclusters initiatives selected by the European Commission to strengthen industrial resilience and move towards a greener, digital and competitive economy. Eight of these initiatives have Catalan participation, including the project in which the MAV Cluster participates.

The MAT4EU project, funded under the European Single Market Programme, aims to structure the European advanced materials ecosystem, encouraging collaboration between companies, clusters and research centers from different industrial sectors, such as mobility, aeronautics, construction, energy, agri-food and health. The project, which has a duration of three years (from October 2025 to September 2028) and a budget of 2.7 million euros, will distribute up to 1.9 million in aid to SMEs in the materials sector.

With a consortium formed by six European clusters—Polymeris (France), Plast Center Danmark (Denmark), RKW Sachsen (Germany), LINPRA (Lithuania), Bydgoszcz Industrial Cluster (Poland) and the MAV Cluster—, the project seeks to promote innovation and the adoption of advanced materials (polymers, metals, ceramics and composites) as a strategic pillar for the autonomy and competitiveness of European industry.

Last October, the first meetings of the MAT4EU consortium were held in Brussels, marked by a collaborative spirit and a strong strategic orientation. During two working days, the partners shared objectives, defined the stages of the project and analyzed the synergies between the different participating industrial ecosystems.

The meetings included workshops dedicated to the mapping of territorial ecosystems and the exchange of good practices derived from previous projects (such as AMULET H2020 and POLREC), with the aim of ensuring that future calls for aid for SMEs are inclusive, transparent and results-oriented.

One of the main axes of MAT4EU is to provide direct support to European SMEs to develop new products and services based on advanced materials, reducing their dependence on critical resources and technologies outside the EU. The project will also contribute to accelerating the digital and sustainable transition of the materials sector.

The MAV Cluster, as a representative of the Catalan ecosystem of advanced materials, will play a key role in connecting SMEs and local technological centers with European opportunities, strengthening their capacity for innovation and internationalization.
